Dodge caravan sport?

Dodge Grand Caravan Gets Sporty R/T Trim for 2011 Model Year

Dodge is trying to regain its mojo by bringing a sporty appeal back to every model in its lineup. Yes, every model even includes the 2011 Grand Caravan minivan. How can Dodge make a minivan sporty? The changes start with a more powerful engine and a revised R/T model.

Chrysler's Pentastar V-6 makes an appearance under the hood of the Grand Caravan for the 2011 model year. This engine has been used in many Chrysler products from the Dodge Charger to the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 3.6-liter V-6 engine in the Grand Caravan R/T is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and makes 283 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 260 pound-feet of torque at 4400 rpm. Some R/T models use a V-8 engine but the Grand Caravan performs well with the V-6.

Fuel economy of 17/25 mpg city/highway is nice, but those who buy the 2011 Grand Caravan R/T model are more likely to care about the unique 17-inch wheels and body colored front grille. Special black leather seats have red stitching. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob accompany a nine-speaker sound system with a 506-watt amplifier sound system. What makes the R/T trim more substantial is a performance-tuned suspension.
At the pump, Dodge recommends using 89-octane but says 87-octane is acceptable. Towing capacity is 3600 pounds – if you want more, try the Dodge Durango crossover SUV with or without the R/T trim.

Pricing starts at $31,430 and, for the bolder Moms and Dads everywhere, Dodge offers a Mango Tango Pearl Coat orange exterior color.
